Description
Apsara barbs are vibrant, active schooling fish that bring dynamic movement and colour to any aquarium. These peaceful community fish display striking red and black markings and thrive in groups of six or more.
Ideal water conditions include temperatures between 24–28°C, slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0–7.0), and well-planted tanks with gentle flow. They prefer soft to moderately hard water and benefit from plenty of vegetation for cover and grazing.
At 5–6cm, these barbs are suitable for tanks 60 litres and larger. Feed high-quality flake or pellet foods supplemented with vegetable matter and occasional live foods. Their peaceful temperament makes them excellent tank mates for similarly-sized community species.
Apsara barbs are hardy and relatively easy to care for, making them a rewarding choice for hobbyists seeking colour and activity without aggressive behaviour.
